Welsh Oak Bread & Cheese Cupboard c.1810

Superb example of a late Georgian Welsh oak kitchen cupboard of a type known as a ‘Cwpwrdd Bara Caws’ or bread and cheese cupboard c.1810. Two door cupboard top with the vented door panels typical of the form. Fitted inside with one full depth shelf (12½") plus a shallower shelf above. With two drawers below. Over a two door cupboard base (internal depth 14") with two more drawers at the waist. Having drawers in the upper section as well as the base is a rare feature. Simple moulded cornice, moulded surround to the door panels, scratch carved detail to the drawers with brass knobs and original brass escutcheons. Attractive painted interior. Nicely shaped brackets to the front feet, note the ogee arch cutaway to form feet at the sides. Excellent colour and condition, restored cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Keys supplied.
