French Daybed c.1820

Attractive early 19th.c. French daybed c.1820. A simple country vernacular interpretation of the grand Empire style in beautifully figured ash timbers. One raised end with a rounded top and graceful curving sides at the front and rear. Over a loose 6" thick seat pad in striped linen, set into the frame and supported with removable boards below. Shaped raised corners at the foot end and raised on a chamfered plinth and block feet. Designed to stand against a wall or at the end of a bed perhaps, the rear board below the seat is of cheaper unfinished timber. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
