Welsh Dresser Base with Spice Drawers c.1800

George III oak breakfront Welsh dresser base with spice drawers c.1800. Featuring a plate stand and a row of six small spice drawers over the main top (height 37"), made from a single board of pronounced grain. Breakfront base with a deeper central bank of four drawers of graduated heights flanked on each side with a drawer and cupboard (internal depth 17"). Unusual secret compartment tucked behind the runner of the right hand drawer. Cock beaded drawer fronts, raised mouldings to the door panels and moulded pilasters either site of the middle drawers. Inlaid bone escutcheons and original brass swan neck handles. The brass catches to the doors are most likely later historical additions. Moulded trim around the base and raised on shaped bracket feet at the front and sides. Oak side panels, deal drawer linings and back panels. Excellent condition and particularly good mellow honey coloured timber. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Keys supplied for the doors.
