Pair of French Empire Armchairs c.1820
Remarkable pair of French Empire armchairs with original covers c.1820. Walnut framed armchairs with curving arms. Extensive and fine quality pierced brass mounts to the backrest, arms and front legs featuring Classical inspired anthemion and acanthus motifs. The Classical theme is continued in the decoration of the heavy woven cloth covers which are believed to be original, a rare feature. Raised on brass paw feet to the front legs. Missing a small portion of one of the brass mounts on the inside of one of the arm terminals. Obvious marks and wear to the covers which do however remain serviceable. Frames have been cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
Note we also have a matching settee sold separately.
