Carved Oak Box Settle c.1890.

Splendid late 19th.c. carved oak box settle or hall seat c.1890. High backrest with intricately carved panels and mouldings raised on an unusual arched gallery above a lift up seat, opening to reveal ample storage space inside. Straight arms with scrolling ends over a panelled base carved with further detail across the front. Original wrought iron lock and clasp. Excellent colour and original condition.
