Pair of Walnut & Leather Armchairs c.1910

Superb pair of walnut and leather open armchairs or desk chairs c.1910. Walnut frames with guilloche frieze across the backrest and arms. Short arms allowing the chairs to be drawn up to a table or desk, with scrolling acanthus leaves to the terminals and also on the arm supports. Buttoned upholstered backrest and sprung seats (height 20") recently upholstered in good quality tan leather. Carved laurel leaf frieze below the seats and raised on legs carved with acanthus leaves over a tapering twist. Rear legs set at an angle for stability and joined with crossed stretchers for strength. With a carved flower head roundel at the centre of the stretchers. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
