Short Oak Box Settle c.1880
Lovely little late 19th.c. oak box settle or hall seat c.1880. Useful small size, just 40" long. High sloped backrest with six raised and fielded panels, moulded rails and mullions and topped with pointed finials. Sturdy shaped arms with rounded terminals raised on the square front stiles. Flat panelled seat lifting to reveal useful storage space for boots and shoes etc. Raised and fielded panels to the front, sides and rear below the seat. Repairs to the feet, otherwise excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
