Cased Taxidermy Herons by John Shaw c.1870

Pair of taxidermy herons by John Shaw of Shrewsbury c.1870. A pair of juvenile herons presented on simulated rocks with ferns, grasses and moss against a pale blue background with slight glow of dawn or dusk at the horizon. Good quality taxidermy with well preserved plumage and glass eyes. Simple ebonized wooden case with a glazed front and gold painted frame. Paper label inside the lower left hand front corner of the case. Very good condition.
