Cast Iron Hall Stand c.1870
Superb late 19th.c. cast iron hall stand c.1870. Eight double hooks for hats and coats etc arranged around a small oval mirror on a gimble. With a stay for sticks and umbrellas at the waist and a removable drip tray in the base. Beautiful and elaborately cast iron frame of scrolling foliate forms supported on grotesque beast's heads at the base. Note how the decoration continues on the mirror frame, the hooks and central support. Weighted base with projecting feet for stability. Later green grey paint finish with gilded highlights. Obvious wear to the original little mirror plate which could be easily replaced if preferred. Previous repair to cracks in the drip tray. Otherwise excellent condition.
