Small Welsh Oak Cwpwrdd Deuddarn c.1780
18th.c. Welsh oak cwpwrdd deuddarn (two piece cupboard) c.1780. Useful small size, just 46½″ wide at the cornice. Two door cupboard top divided into two halves, the right hand cupboard with a a shelf and two small drawers, the left with just a single shelf. Note the left hand door is held closed with a sliding wooden catch accessed from inside the lockable right hand cupboard. On a deeper two door cupboard base fitted with a single shelf (internal depth 20") and with two drawers in the waist. Moulded cornice, original turned droppers to the canopy and beautiful ogee pointed arch upper door panels (the shape of which is repeated on the apron below the internal drawers). Unusually arranged panels to the lower doors, 19th.c. brass handles on the drawers. Raised on shaped bracket feet at the front and sides. Oak panelled sides and rear. Excellent condition with some previous repairs and restorations. Particularly good colour to the timber. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops, key supplied.
