Small Welsh Oak Settle c.1780

Late 18th.c. Welsh oak settle or hall seat c.1780. Unusually small size, just 49" wide and 18" deep. Slightly sloped backrest with four raised and fielded panels between moulded rails and mullions with raised and rounded ends to the rear stiles. Shaped arms on turned supports. Seat (height 17") made of two oak boards with rounded edges. Square stiles joined with stretchers to the front, sides and rear. Note the pegged construction. Previous repairs the bottom of the legs. Good colour and condition, solid and sturdy, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
