Small Welsh Dresser & Rack c.1830

Lovely little early 19th.c. Welsh cottage dresser with rack c.1830. Useful small size, just 62" wide at the cornice. Quite a tall rack with three shelves, each with a groove to hold plates, and featuring 34 small iron hooks traditionally used for the display of cup and jugs etc. The dresser base has quiet an unusual configuration of five drawers and two cupboards arranged around an open display shelf or 'kennel' at the centre. Minimal decoration save for the deep ogee cornice, shaped shoes where the rack meets the base, diamond bone escutcheons and the lovely shaped apron over the open shelf. Oak sides, deal drawer runner and back boards. Some minor repairs and a couple of replacement drawer knobs. Otherwise excellent original condition and very attractive pale colour. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Cupboard keys supplied.
