Oil Painting of Barge Hauling

Large oil painting on canvas of barge hauling. Five figures on the bank of a large river pull a barge with ropes whilst another figure onboard uses a long pole to prevent it from running aground. With green hills and buildings on the far shore. All under a a blue sky with billowing white clouds. Note the small dark shadows to the figures suggesting a midday sun. Confidently painted with thick oils in a loose impressionistic style. Large but rather indistinct signature in the lower right hand corner of the canvas. Presented in a moulded gilded wooden frame. Excellent condition.
