Large Copper Log Bin on Stand c.1890
Very impressively proportioned late 19th.c copper pail on stand c.1890. Ideal as a log bin or as an outer pot for a large indoor plant perhaps. 24" diameter pail with an internal depth of 19" (volume is approx 130 litres!). Made, unusually, from a single piece of copper (rather than with riveted joints at the sides and base), with a riveted copper collar for strength and splendid large iron hoop handles. Note the pattern of hammer marks to the dome-shaped base and the decorative marks to the sides. Raised on a very sturdy wrought iron tripod base. Some wear and creases to the lower portion of the sides. Otherwise very good original condition. Presented as found.
