Small Cottage Welsh Dresser & Rack c.1800

Delightful little Welsh dresser with open rack and potboard, mid Wales c.1800. Open back plate rack with a moulded cornice and attractive wavy frieze with iron cup hooks over three shelves, each with a groove and support for displaying plates etc. Note the shaped detail to the sides. Over a low base (28") with three drawers. Single plank top with a raised moulding along the back edge to hold plates and long 'shoes' at the sides. Moulded edge to the drawer fronts with later brass handles and ash drawer linings. Particularly attractive elaborately shaped apron below the drawers. Raised on chamfered square legs front and rear joined with an open potboard display shelf with the original oak boards. Very good condition with some earlier repairs and restorations. Superb colour and patina. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
