Pair of Carved Walnut Armchairs c.1880

Fine pair of late 19th.c. walnut open armchairs c.1880. Low backrests with a crisp carved and pierced foliate backrest with moulded rails over turned spindles between raised rear stiles with acanthus carved corbel tops. Straight moulded arms with scrolling terminals on turned and segmented baluster turned supports. Unusually broad sprung seats recently upholstered in a deep red velvet chenille with brass studs to the edges. Twisting reeded column front legs and turned feet, chamfered edges to the rear legs. Moulded stretchers to the sides and rear for strenth. Excellent colour and condition with clean covers, the frames have been cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
