Welsh Potboard Dresser Base c.1810
Early 19th.c. Welsh Dresser base, South Wales c.1810. Two plank oak top (note the 12" deep front board) with an applied moulding to the underside of the edge. Over five drawers with a simple moulded detail to the drawer fronts and later brass swan neck handles with Georgian pattern backplates. Triple arch apron, the taller centre arch having a mahogany crossbanded surround (an expensive extra in the period), with a cockbeaded bottom edge. Raised on four nicely turned column front legs over an open potboard display shelf with a single piece oak board. Oak panelled sides. Some old marks and repairs to the top, otherwise good colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
