Set of Four Ash & Elm Oxford Kitchen Chairs c.1880

Delightful set of four late 19th.c. ash and elm Oxford type kitchen dining chairs c.1880. Curving top rail over reeded back stretchers with a pair of lovely turned roundels at the centre (an unusual feature), between graceful curving rear stiles. Seats each cut from a single elm board with dished top and shaped sides. On turned legs, splayed for stability and joined with turned H stretchers for strength. Each chair stamped with a letter A on the back of the seat. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
