Renaissance Style Oak & Leather Throne Chair c.1910
Very impressive Renaissance revival throne style hall or porters chair c.1910. Sturdy solid oak frame carved with grotesque masks, scrolling acanthus and a splendid pair of ram's heads to the arms. Retaining the original tooled and polychrome painted leather backrest and seat. Backrest features a fabulous design of large heraldic shield within a wreath, topped with a crown, held by an eagle and supported by lions, surrounded by scrolling foliage and ribbons. Symmetrical design of foliate forms to the seat. Original large brass studs to the edges. Front legs joined with a carved and shaped stretcher and terminating in large carved feet. Excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
