Carved Oak Hall Bench c.1900

Good quality carved oak hall bench or settle c.1900. Decorative backrest with a shaped and carved cresting rail over a relief carved panel featuring a Classical urn and scrolling acanthus motif. Shaped ends with a moulded leading edge and carved detail to both sides. Unusual turned posts with reeded finials at the rear corners and low turned pommels at the front. Solid oak seat (height 19") with a moulded edge over a carved frieze continued at the sides. Raised on stout turned and tapering legs with bead moulding and carved flutes front and rear. Repair to the front edge of the seat, otherwise excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
