Queen Anne Style Walnut Bookcase by Waring & Gillow c.1932
Superb Queen Anne style burr walnut breakfront bookcase by the celebrated English cabinet maker's Waring & Gillow of Lancaster dated 1932. Three door glazed bookcase top fitted with three glass shelves (internal depth 11" at the centre) and patterned red silk lining. Over a low waisted cupboard base. Moulded cornice with a flattened arch over the raised centre door. Raised and crossbanded glazing bars to the doors and burr walnut veneered surround. Burr walnut cupboard doors, with cleverly arranged veneers to create a circular pattern on the smaller doors. Large and decorative pierced brass lock plate on the centre doors. Ogee waist moulding, note also how the flattened arch from the cornice is repeated on the apron below the base. Raised on lovely octagonal moulded bun feet front and rear. Original maker's label, dated 1932 inside the centre glazed door. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Keys supplied.
Separates into three glazed sections plus cornice and cupboard base for delivery.
