Oak Box Settle with Canework Panels c.1905

Very smart Edwardian carved oak box settle or hall seat c.1905. High back with an arched top centre panel with elegant moulded and carved acanthus detail flanked with unusual begere or canework panels between fluted pilasters. Moulded arms on swept supports with lovely scrolling terminals. Over a padded seat, freshly upholstered in a patterned flatweave, which lifts to reveal useful storage inside for boots and shoes etc. Canework panels (with oak panels behind for strength) to the front and sides of the base and raised on a slim moulded plinth. Excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
