Early 19th.c. French mahogany and marble top side cabinet or silver chest c.1830. Original inch thick marble top over a two door cupboard fitted with two shelves inside (internal depth 15"). Interesting and very well engineered original locks and latches suggesting this was probably a silver cabinet, designed for the secure storage of household cutlery and tableware. Simple sturdy design with square door panels in a moulded frame and large inlaid brass escutcheons. Solid mahogany panelled sides, oak back and floor boards. Raised on a splendid pair of Empire style carved and painted claw feet to the front. Excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Original key supplied.
