Large Burr Elm Cheval Mirror c.1860

Superb large mid 19th.c. cheval or robing mirror c.1860. Original 22" x 44½" mirror plate with a frame faced in beautifully figured burr elm, the shaped top with carved acanthus leaf detail and bands of moulding around the glass. Angle adjustable on tapering bobbin turned columns topped with lovely carved finials and with octagonal section bases. Unusual pierced stretcher below the mirror carved with large scrolling acanthus detail. Raised on shaped legs, also veneered to match, front and rear. Some obvious crazing to the silvering across the lower portion of the mirror. Otherwise Excellent condition with particularly good colour to the timber. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
