Gilt Wall Mirror c.1840

Mid 19th.c. French gilded wall mirror c.1840. Original 21½" x 29.5" mercury glass mirror plate within a wooden frame with moulded gesso decoration. With splendid original carved and pierced wooden elements featuring scrolling acanthus forms applied to the top, sides and bottom edge of the frame. Original gilt finish, a little rubbed and worn in places to reveal the red ground below. Obvious tarnish to the mirror and some minor retouching to the frame. Generally very good condition, cleaned and restored in our workshops.
