Chinese Display Cabinet c.1880

Fabulous late 19th.c. Chinese hongmu display cabinet c.1880. Singular design featuring an unusual configuration of five small shelves for display plus several small cupboards with hinged and sliding doors and three small drawers. Extraordinary carved decoration across the piece. Door panels carved with oriental landscapes and blossom, blind fretwork to the frame and delicate pierced galleries and brackets. Note also the pierced carving surrounding the cupboards and the delightful little detail of two rats (symbol of wealth) carved onto a pommel at the centre of the cabinet. Raised on a separate stand, also heavily carved and with a pierced frieze. Missing some small portions of carved fretwork, otherwise very good colour and condition, restored cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
