Arts & Crafts Wall Bracket by Liberty & Co. c.1901

Wall bracket or shelf by the acclaimed Arts & Crafts makers Liberty & Co c.1901. Mahogany bracket with a 6" deep shelf with a groove to stand plates. On shaped brackets over a delightful coloured paper panel behind glass featuring an illustration of Dutch girls in clogs running hand in hand by Cecil Aldin. Excellent original condition featuring a 'Liberty & Co. London' enamel badge at the rear. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Also at the rear is a hand written paper label suggesting it was previously the property of the Countess of Macclesfield at Shirburn Castle Watlington.
The 'Leyden' wall bracket appeared in Liberty's 1901 'Yude-Tide Gifts' catalogue, as illustrated on page 179 of Liberty's Furniture 1875-1915 The Birth of Modern Interior Design by Daryl Bennet.
