Alabaster & Marble Bust of a Woman c.1900

Unusual Neo-Classical bust of a woman with a laurel leaf crown c.1900. Head and shoulders length bust of a young woman with her gaze cast downwards, wearing a crown of laurel leaves in her hair and a Classical Greek or Roman style tunic (note the naturalistic asymmetrical neckline) with carved detail and a clasp at the shoulder. Beautifully carved head in a pale alabaster whilst her tunic is a pale slightly translucent grey veined marble. Signed P Fattorini on the rear of the tunic. Presented on a slim shaped marble plinth. A hairline crack across the top if one of the leaves and couple of small scratches to the tunic on the left shoulder. Otherwise very good condition.
