Welsh Oak Box Settle c.1800

Late Georgian Welsh oak box settle c.1800. Four raised and fielded panels to the backrest with simple thumb moulded detail to the surrounding rails and mullions (repeated on the rear). Between angled rear stiles with curving points to the tops. Shaped and sloping arms with rounded ends on elegantly chamfered supports. Board seat with a hinged panel lifting to reveal useful storage inside for boots and shoes etc. Oak panelled front (with an inlaid diamond shaped escutcheon), sides and back. Original floor board. Shaped bracket front feet. Excellent colour and condition. Repairs to the bottom of the left hand stiles at the front and rear. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
