Steel Safe by Cyrus Price & Co. c.1890
Very useful late 19th.c. steel safe or strong box by the Wolverhampton makers Cyrus Price & Co c.1890. Three inch thick door opening with the original key, internal dimensions 12″ x 12″ x 14″, plus a drawer in the base. Splendid large embossed brass plate on the front of the door featuring the company’s registered trademark (dated 1888) with Britannia, a lion’s face and mention of various medals and awards. Brass handle and keyhole with sliding cover, also featuring the company name, and original stencil paintwork. The trademark features again as a trasfer inside the door. Note the company name on the key and drawer handle. Some typical wear, generally very good functional condition.
