Small Walnut & Marble Top Commode c.1840

Handsome little mid 19th.c. French walnut and marble top commode c.1840. Small than many of the commodes of this style at just 36" wide. Original and spectacularly figured black marble top over a chest of four drawers. Slimmer top drawer with a shaped front continued on the cabinet sides. Over three larger drawers with inlaid brass escutcheons. All the drawers are lined inside with blue cloth. Walnut veneers of pronounced grain laid so as to form a symmetrical pattern across the front of the piece. Solid walnut sides. Raised on a moulded plinth (veneered to match) and shaped bracket feet. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied to work all three lower drawers.
