Chairback Settee with Painted Panels c.1920

Unusual early 20th.c. triple chairback settee c.1920. Pale frame in sycamore topped with a curving stained and inlaid backrest. Over three backsplats hand painted with Classical inspired images of a fisherwoman, a huntress and a mermaid against and ebonised ground within oval frames with carved pierced and moulded surrounds. Shaped arms on swept supports with carved collars and terminals. Webbed and upholstered seat over an ebonised apron with further painted detail. Turned front legs with carved collars repeated from the arms. Square tapering rear legs swept backwards for stability and joined with a stretcher. Minor wear to the upholstery, otherwise very good condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
