Narrow Yew Wood Bureau Bookcase c.1920
Fine quality little early 20th.c. Queen Anne style bureau bookcase with exceptional yew wood veneers c.1920. Useful small size, just 28″ wide. Glazed bookcase top with a double arch cornice and shaped glazing, fitted inside with two adjustable shelves (internal depth 7"). Over a fall front bureau base with two short and two long drawers of graduated depth below. Raised moulded edge to the front of the fall to form a lectern. Opening to reveal a leather writing surface and a good fitted interior of small drawers and pigeon holes, a lockable centre cupboard, hidden compartments and a sliding panel affording access to a space for papers below. Particularly well-figured yew wood veneers arranged to form a symmetrical pattern on the front and continued on the sides. Crossbanded fall and drawer fronts, raised mouldings around the drawers. Quality brass handles and oak drawer linings. Ogee moulding around the base and raised in shaped bracket feet. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Keys supplied.
