Ash & Elm Windsor Armchair c.1820
Delightful little early 19th.c. Windsor armchair c.1820. Steamed ash top rail and back stretcher with simple stick spindles. Lovely shaped ends to the arms over curving supports. Beautifully shaped seat (height 17") formed from a thick piece of elm, note how the lower edge is chamfered to present a slimmer profile. Raised on slim legs with a simple turned detail, splayed for stability and joined with H stretchers for strength. Excellent colour and condition, with a lovely patina and retaining traces of the original green paint. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
