Metamorphic Reading Table c.1900

Very versatile French walnut side table and reading stand c.1900. 34" x 19" table top, height adjustable from 30"-45" on a telescopic mechanism with a sprung damper. The top can be slid sideways on the column to be used over a chair or bed. It can also be tipped to make a sloped reading or music stand with both the long sides hinged to make a raised edge. Raised on a broad crisply turned column and cross shaped foot with moulded edges and the original castors below. Original brass and iron mechanism, locking screws and hinges etc. Original labels for the Parisian maker's and retailers. Excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
