Mahogany Stick Barometer by Anthony Gatty c.1810

Fine George III mahogany stick barometer by Anthony Gatty c.1810. Mercury barometer plus small spirit thermometer. Engraved brass face behind a small hinged glazed panel. Barometer scale with observations plus an adjustable marker with finer gradations. Fahrenheit scale for the thermometer, also with observations. Named for Gatty at the top edge. Slim mahogany case topped with a moulded broken pediment and brass finial. Symmetrically arranged mahogany veneers with very fine herringbone inlays repeated on the door. Turned cistern cover with bone inlay. Presented as found, missing a return from the cornice, otherwise in very good working condition.
