Mahogany & Marble Top Commode c.1860
Beautiful mid 19th.c. French marble top commode chest of drawers c.1860. Original top in black marble with tiny fossils embedded within and rounded edges. Over five long oak lined drawers. Highly figured flame mahogany veneers laid in a symmetrical pattern across the front and sides. Slim top drawer with a shaped front (continued on the sides of the cabinet), three larger drawers with decorative brass handles and escutcheons and a fifth drawer hidden in the plinth. Raised on the original turned bun feet. Some minor wear and repairs to the veneers. Otherwise very good colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
