Large Oil Painting of Two Boys after Murillo c.1928

Good size oil on canvas painting after Children Eating a Tart (c.1670-1675) by the great Spanish artist Bartolomé Murillo. Two boys enjoy the last pieces of a pastry, watched by a little dog, with a large basket of fruit and vegetables on the floor before them. Presented in an attractive carved and moulded wooden frame with dark gilt bronze finish. Annotated and dated 1928 on the rear. Very good condition.
Although best known for religious works Murillo also produced paintings realistic scenes of everyday life featuring women and children which were unusual subject matter for the period.
