Large Carved and Gilded Wooden Figure of The Buddha

Impressively large mid 20th.c carved and gilded wooden statue of The Buddha c.1950. Standing 41" tall. South Asian style figure of the Buddha in the Enlightenment pose seated with his left hand held palm up in his lap whilst the right hand points to the ground. Fairly crudely carved from wood with applied plaster decoration to create the hair and flowing robes which are decorated with scores of tiny coloured glass pieces. Original gilded finish. Presented as found with some obvious wear and repairs.
