French Empire Marble Top Commode c.1820

Superb early 19th.c. mahogany and marble top commode chest of drawers c.1820. Highly figured grey marble top with square edges over a chest of five long drawers. Solid mahogany drawer fronts flanked with turned columns with chased brass mounts top and bottom. Slimmer overhanging frieze drawer and bottom drawer hidden in the plinth. The three larger middle drawers with inlaid brass escutcheons, original locks and key. Projecting bases to the columns raised on turned feet. Solid mahogany sides, chestnut drawer linings and back panel. Excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
