Faux Bamboo Commode c.1890

Good quality late 19th.c. French faux bamboo marble top commode or chest of drawers c.1890. Original white marble top with rounded front corners and edges. Over a chest of four long drawers of graduated height. Pine veneered drawer fronts (on oak groundwork) with applied beech wood mouldings turned and carved to imitate bamboo and retaining the original turned knobs. Flanked with bamboo column pilasters continuing to the floor to form the front feet. Solid pine sides also with applied bamboo style moulding. Oak drawer linings and back panels. Some old marks to the marble, otherwise excellent colour and condition. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
