Empire Style Walnut Commode c.1880

Very handsome late 19th.c. French Empire style walnut commode c.1880. Grey marble top over four long drawers. Well figured walnut veneers arranged in symmetrical pattern across the drawer fronts, with large decorative brass escutcheons and drawer knobs cast with an image of Bacchus surrounded by vines. Flanked with half column pilasters with brass mounts top and bottom, raised on turned feet. Solid walnut sides, oak drawer bases and backboards. Some previous repairs to the veneers. Excellent condition and attractive pale colour, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
