Burr Walnut Commode c.1860

Superb French marble top chest of drawers or commode c.1860. Black marble top with rounded corners and flecked with tiny white fossils. Over a chest of four long drawers, the shallower top drawer with a shaped front continued on the cabinet sides. Highly figured burr walnut veneers arranged in a symmetrical pattern across the drawer fronts, with a large brass escutcheon to each and good quality brass handles to the three larger drawers. Solid walnut sides, moulded plinth, also veneered at the front and shaped to form bracket feet. Solid oak groundwork, sides and bases to the drawers. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied to fit all four drawers.
