Ash & Elm Windsor Armchair c.1820

Good sized early 19th.c. ash and elm stick back Windsor chair c.1820. Steamed top rail and arms holding simple stick spindles, with shaped front supports to the arms. Generous seat in elm, sloping backwards, shaped and retaining a slight cast of the original green paintwork. Raised on turned front legs, the rear legs splayed for stability, joined with H stretchers. Some unusual details, note the wooden pegs used to pin the spindles into the top rail and the slight shaping to the arms which project beyond the curved support. The turning on the legs is also an unusual pattern. Excellent colour and condition with a lovely patina. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
