Pair of Large Carved Walnut Armchairs c.1900

Fabulous pair of large 17th.c. style Renaissance revival carved walnut armchairs c.1900. High backrests with elaborately carved and pierced cresting rails featuring winged cherub grotesques over canework panels within foliate carved frames. Flanked with twist carved stiles topped with pomegranate finials. Shaped and moulded arms with scrolling acanthus leaf terminals. Over padded seats freshly upholstered in a black and silver check flat weave fabric. Carved rails around the seats, raised on twist legs and stretchers. Decorative front stretchers below the seat also carved with cherubs to match the cresting rails. Excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
