Art Deco Kneehole Desk by Waring & Gillow c.1930
Stylish Art Deco walnut kneehole desk by the celebrated English cabinet makers Waring & Gillow c.1930. 48" x 24" top with a dark brown faux leather work surface with a crossbanded surround. Over 9 drawers of graduated height arranged around the central kneehole (width 21", height 24"). Moulded and ebonised wooden handles running in a continuous line across the drawer fronts to striking modernist effect. Note also how the veneers are late alternatively vertically and horizontally on the drawer fronts (also repeated on the rear of the desk). The drawer above the kneehole is lockable and fitted with dividers and a sliding tray. Crossbanded surround and plinth. Sides and rear also walnut veneered. Maker's stamp and badge to two of the top drawers. Some small repairs to the veneers, generally excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied.
