Adjustable Reading Stand & Wine Table c.1890

Superb combined reading / music stand and side table c.1890. Ideal for use beside a chair or bed or as a full height lectern. Featuring a mahogany book stand (14" x 10") with a raised ledge and brass page stays, angle adjustable with a ball and socket mechanism on rotating and articulated arm. Over a 14½" diameter circular wine table with a raised and moulded edge. Both elements are independently height adjustable a brass column which is itself also height adjustable – sliding within the reeded lower portion of the column. Heavy cast iron base with claw feet and original gilded decoration. Raised on the original black ceramic castors. Label on the rear of the bookstand for the cabinet makers and retailers P.McCarthy & Sons of Limerick, Ireland. Excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
