Marble Top Gueridon Centre Table with Brass Mounted Base c.1830
Superb early 19th.c. French Empire marble top centre table or gueridon c.1830. 38″ diameter in spectacularly figured grey marble, the edge moulded with a border of concentric rings designed to stop spilt liquids from running over the sides. Mahogany veneered apron on oak groundwork with an unusual brass moulding around the bottom edge. Reeded urn shaped pedestal also with brass moulding between the reeding and around the turned base. Raised on three splendid Empire style legs with large paw feet the original wooden wheel castors below. With a lovely handwritten paper label for a Monsieur Jaron of 36 Rue Asselin, Cherbourg below the marble. Some minor wear to the veneers on the apron, otherwise excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
