18th.c. Box Settle c.1780
Beautiful late 18th.c. French box settle or hall seat in chestnut c.1780. Unusual configuration with a lift up seat revealing useful storage below plus a separate cupboard in the left hand end accessed through a lockable door in the front. Another unusual feature are the candle boxed with hinged lids hidden in the raised sides either side of the seat. Decorative front with arched panels within moulded surrounds above a lovely shaped apron and feet. Note also the long brass lock plate and hinges to the door. Panelled sides and rear. Excellent condition with particularly good colour and patina to the timber. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Cupboard key supplied.
