Long Oak Refectory Dining Table c.1820
Early 19th.c. oak refectory dining table c.1820. A fraction under 8'6" long by just 27½" wide, big enough to seat four down each side. 1½" thick top with cleated ends over a large drawer at both ends. Square legs with chamfered corners and shaped stops. Joined with a long middle stretcher and short stretchers at the ends, all with a moulded detail to the top edges. Note the pegged construction. Repairs to the top where oak slivers have been inserted to fill the shrinkage between the boards. Otherwise very good original colour an condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
